Where the Brush Leads: spontaneous and intuitive paintings
Artist Statement: This body of work is a series of paintings that evolved from an intuitive process. My paintings take shape without any predetermined plan and develop by spontaneous response and choice, often relying on my instincts to guide the work. This process is creatively freeing as there is no “right or wrong”, just what intuitively feels harmonious to me in the moment. These paintings are layered canvases of color and texture. The surprise of this intuitive process is an engaging and imaginative experience that has revealed images of nature, symbolizing concepts such as growth, change, life, death, spirituality and the passage of time.
